(Omaha, NE) -- Three Omaha police officers were shot and a suspect is dead in a gas station shooting Wednesday afternoon.

In a press conference after the shooting, Omaha Police Chief Schmaderer said they got a dispatch call to help an officer at the Quick Trip gas station near 32nd and L Street in South Omaha at about 2:20 p.m.

Schmaderer says the man who died was a suspect in a shooting at a Phil’s Foodway near 30th Street and Ames Avenue, where a white man in his 50s was reportedly shot in the chest several times by a Hispanic man in his late 20s at about noon Wednesday.

The Chief commended the officers for their "great police work and bravery."

The shooting occurred at the QuikTrip near 32nd and L Streets. The officers were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
