Jimmy Rogers has been named the new head football coach at Iowa State University, following the departure of Matt Campbell to Penn State. Rogers, who previously led Washington State to a 6-6 record in his first season, becomes the 34th head coach in Iowa State history, as announced by Cyclone Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard.

Rogers' appointment comes after a successful tenure at South Dakota State, where he guided the team to a 15-0 record and the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) national championship in 2023. He then moved to Washington State, where he navigated the team through a challenging period following the dissolution of the Pac-12 conference.

Pollard expressed confidence in Rogers' abilities, stating, "Jimmy Rogers is a rising star in college athletics who has very strong ties to the Midwest both as a player and as a coach." Rogers, 38, brings extensive experience from his time as a defensive assistant and later head coach at South Dakota State. His familiarity with the Midwest and his successful coaching record make him a promising fit for Iowa State.

Rogers takes over from Campbell, who is recognized as the most successful coach in Iowa State's history, with 72 wins over a decade. Under Campbell's leadership, the Cyclones had eight winning seasons, including an 11-3 record last season, culminating in a loss to Arizona State in the Big 12 championship game.

Rogers has agreed to a six-year contract with Iowa State.
