(Iowa) -- The Iowa Supreme Court has ruled to uphold the state law banning pornography in prison.

A state law passed in 2018 banned taxpayer money from being used to distribute pornography to prisoners and provided support to prison officials in their efforts to prevent the trading of contraband. A group of prisoners filed a lawsuit arguing the Iowa Constitution gives them the right to pornography in prison.

The case stalled in the courts before being appealed to the Iowa Supreme Court. The Court ruled 7-0 in Gregory v. State of Iowa to uphold the state law. The full text of the decision is available on the Iowa Attorney General's Office website.
