(Des Moines, IA) -- A federal grant would be used to wipe out lease payments for Iowa's first professional soccer stadium.
The Des Moines City Council will vote tonight on the $16.4 million dollar grant that would be given to the Iowa Soccer Development Foundation for the planned soccer stadium and public plaza downtown.
The grant would be used to make lease payments back to the city over 25 years.
The $95 million dollar stadium is expected to seat 550 people. Completion of the stadium and plaza is expected by July 1, 2028.
