(Des Moines, IA) -- One person is in custody following a domestic dispute and police chase in the Des Moines metro.
Police say 28-year-old Yerko Mena forced his way into his ex-girlfriend's home while armed with a handgun after she recently ended their relationship. Investigators say Mena fired one shot before forcing the victim to hand over her car keys and then fleeing in her vehicle.
About four hours later, officers attempted to stop Mena in Ankeny, but he led police on a pursuit before eventually being taken into custody.
Mena faces multiple charges, including domestic abuse assault while displaying a dangerous weapon.
