William Penn University basketball player victim of stabbing

UPDATE:

A  William Penn University basketball player has been identified as the person, who died after a stabbing last night (Thursday) in Oskaloosa.

Oskaloosa Police Chief Jake McGee and State investigators say the victim was 22-year-old Marquis Todd from Woodbridge, Illinois.   Investigators say the stabbing may have been prompted by a minor motor vehicle crash.  No charges are filed yet.   Police say they think it was an isolated incident, and the public's not in any danger.

Police were called to a fight in the 600 block of 3rd Street.  They found Todd at a nearby gas station, with stab wounds.  He was taken to a local hospital, where he died.

(OSKALOOSA, Iowa)     The Iowa Department of Public Safety may release some details today (Friday) about a death investigation involving a student at William Penn University in Oskaloosa.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation has been called to assist the Osklahoosa Police Department in the case.     A news conference is planned for 11:30 in the Mahaska County  Law Enforcement Center.

William Penn University in Oskaloosa released the following statement: 

It is with a heavy heart that we mourn the loss of one of our William Penn students from an incident that occurred last night off campus. It is known at this time that the other individuals in this incident were not affiliated with the University.

The University is cooperating fully with the Oskaloosa Police Department with their investigation.
