Know your economy

Listen to "Get to know your economy" from the February 10, 2018 episode

There are good reasons to worry about the economy, and there are bad ones.

Worry about the economy because the stock market is going through big swings? Bad reason. The stock market isn't the economy, and the economy isn't the stock market.

Worry about the economy because the Federal government can't stop overspending, there's a mountain of money that was pumped into the economy after the 2008/2009 panic that hasn't been taken out and could turn inflationary, and because we aren't grappling with big issues around everything from workforce development and re-training to entitlement spending? Those are good reasons to worry.

Worry about the economy because productivity growth is almost completely flat and we have an administration in Washington, DC, that keeps threatening trade wars? Those are fantastic reasons to worry.
