The David Austin English roses have been doing well in our landscape. They are also a favorite with Melissa.
If you're not familiar with them, they known for their many petals (sometimes hundreds of petals per bloom!) and heavy, but sweet fragrance. They are available in many colors as a shrub or climbing type but my favorite is one named 'Lady of Shallot', which is a shallot orange colored rose.
English roses can be a little more challenging to grow in comparison to a Knock Out, Easy Elegance, or Flower Carpet because they may show the effects of some common rose diseases which are typical in Iowa during the summer. They are well worth the challenge!
