Fall in Iowa

This weekend might be the perfect one to pick out your pumpkins, especially since the last couple of soggy days may have delayed some of your Fall gardening tasks.

This photo of interesting pumpkins is from our friend, Nicole Jonas of Red Granite Farm near Boone. If you are in the area, she is open today (Sunday) from 1-4 P.M. We love the diversity- all shapes and colors! Otherwise, you can find some of these 'Cinderella' types of pumpkins at your local garden centers or other retailers. They make for beautiful, long lasting Fall decor.

These specialty pumpkins aren't too difficult to grow yourself, so be sure to place them on your Spring vegetable garden wish list.

This week should be the peak of Fall foliage in Central Iowa, according to the Iowa DNR.
