Iowa Arboretum Happenings and Events

This week, our special guests Leah Worth and ShyAnn Sherer from the Iowa Arboretum talked about their upcoming events. Hard to believe, the Iowa Arboretum will be 50 years old- their Golden Celebration! You can find the common theme of the 50 year celebration in their events such as the Garden Social and Auction on May 4th as well as golden themed plants at the plant sale!

For this upcoming weekend, they will be offering a maple syrup event where some trees will be tapped in a demonstration. After learning about the art and science of maple syrup, enjoy a pancake breakfast for a small fee, which goes to support the Iowa State University Forestry Club's honor society!

You can find their upcoming events HERE!

Also on this week's program, we talked about seed starting.  As some of our listeners noticed, the date varies sometimes widely among seed companies for when to set your seedlings out. We recommend following the guidelines set forth from more local resources. Iowa State University Extension often has the best information for the state of Iowa.
