When I was a kid, my mom provided day care for the children of a comic book collector. Each week, when the dad dropped his children off on Monday with my mom, he would drop off a cardboard box full of comics for me to read.
Yep - he wasn't the type of guy to wrap the comics up and not touch them. He trusted me to take care of them and loved the fact that he was able to share his love of comics with me. This is why I grew up loving both reading AND superheroes.
You can imagine my excitement over the announcement that comic book legend Stan Lee will be appearing at Wizard World Des Moines this weekend. He's part of a VERY impressive line-up that includes John Cusack (my favorite Cusack movie is "Grosse Point Blank" though "Hot Tub Time Machine is ALSO awesome).
But Monday is turning out to be full of great entertainment announcements. The legendary ZZ Top is set to appear this fall at the Civic Center. They are one of the few "classic rock" line-ups STILL touring with the original members.
