NYC Prepares For Bomb Cyclone; We'd Call It A January Day

Van Harden called it earlier this week - while the media noted that it seemed extra cold in the Midwest, he predicted that we'd get wall-to-wall weather coverage if it snowed in the media centers in the Northeast.

Behold -  the bomb cyclone!

The New York Post is preparing its readers for the worst.  And by worst, I mean what would be viewed in Iowa as a typical winter day.  Here's the actual breathless details for what is on tap for Thursday in New York City:

Manhattan is set to get 3 inches of snow starting around 5 or 6 a.m. Thursday, but parts of Queens, Brooklyn and Long Island should brace for at least double that, experts warned.

And while the city is expected to “warm up’’ to 28 degrees Thursday, a blast of Arctic air will cause temps to plummet again by Friday, to only a high of 17 degrees.

On Saturday, the mercury will drop to just 4 or 5 degrees.

It was -13 when I left my house in Des Moines on Tuesday.
