Hawaiians LOVE Halloween

As a life-long Midwestern, is it weird that I think that warm-weather states don't have the same enthusiasm for winter holidays as we do?

24/7 Wall Street has just revealed the states that go craziest for Halloween. Hawaii is the state that goes craziest for Halloween, followed by Utah.

Iowa ranked 37th on the list:

37. Iowa

> Population:3,156,145

> Annual candy consumption:148,331 pounds

> Annual candy consumption per 100,000 people:4,700 pounds (21st lowest)

> Top 3 favorite candies:Candy Corn, M&M’s, Reese’s Cups

> Best place for trick-or-treating: Norwalk

The list is based on things like Halloween-related Google searches, number of costume shops and haunted houses, amount of Halloween candy purchased and more.

Hawaii apparently boosted its ranking on the list by eating a LOT of treats: annual candy consumption is 71,482 pounds, or 5,032 pounds per 100,000 people. As for what candy they're eating, their favorites include Skittles, Hershey’s Mini Bars, and Butterfingers.
