According to Trump, the initial sentence was problematic because Iran had previously agreed to halt all nuclear activities. "If they have any nuclear of any form, I don’t read the rest," he stated, expressing dissatisfaction with the level of guarantee provided by Iran.

Trump's rejection of the proposal comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, as the ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran remains on "life support." The U.S. President has demanded a significant rollback of Iran's nuclear activities, while Iran seeks a more limited agreement that would involve reopening the Strait of Hormuz and lifting the blockade on its ports. Trump told reporters that Iran's proposal lacked the necessary assurances, leading to his outright dismissal of the offer.

Iran's proposal included demands for the U.S. to recognize its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, lift international sanctions, and unfreeze Iranian assets held abroad. However, these demands have been widely criticized as likely violations of international law. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian maintained a defiant stance, emphasizing that Iran would not surrender its rights.
