Adrianne Tried Goat Yoga... It's Hilarious!

Adrianne was really excited to try Goat Yoga, and she brought her teacher to the studio to give us a full report. It's crazy!

When Kelly Clarkson was in Iowa, she mentioned her band and crew tried Goat Yoga, but perhaps she didn't know our own Adrianne Branstad beat her crew to it! Last week, Adrianne told us about a crazy thing called Goat Yoga. What is goat yoga? 

Lynn Marie Nelson of Illuminate Yoga is the owner and instructor of this adorable and crazy goat yoga idea and she explained this  trend as simply, participants doing yoga... with goats. The idea is more focused on stress relief than it is actual yoga it seems. The instructor does lead the class in various yoga poses, but in the process, baby goats are free to walk all over you and snuggle. 

Each session is full of deep belly laughs, plenty of fresh air, and plenty of adorable goat snuggles! It seems there may actually be research to back up this activity as well. Numerous studies have confirmed the health benefits of yoga, being outdoors, deep laughing and breathing, and even how cute animals can be used as therapy, so it would make sense that combining all of them might just alleviate some of your deepest rooted stress, at least temporarily. 

Nelson did tell us it's important for anyone interested in registering for goat yoga to know a few things in advance. First of all, the goats are animals and there is a chance they may leave a surprise on your yoga matt, so make sure to bring a towel. Also, they do have a tendency to chew on your personal belongings if you're not careful, so cell phones or any other items you don't want to get damaged, you should probably leave outside the fenced area.
