Yesterday Texas Governor Greg Abbott took to Facebook Live to sign a wide-ranging Sanctuary Cities Bill - something Iowa lawmakers could not get done this session.

According to USA Today, the new law allows police officers to ask about a person’s immigration status and threatens sheriffs with jail if they don’t cooperate with federal authorities, including honoring requests to hold someone in jail while his or her immigration status is checked out for possible deportation.

The fact that Iowa couldn't even get a much weaker Bill to a vote is something Republicans should be feeling some shame over.

So should Iowa follow suit next year?
