Yesterday the Washington Post shocked the world... or not... by explaining that the President leaked classified information to the Russians - something by the way that if he had done it, he would have been completely legally entitled to do.
It turns out however that it didn't happen. Important words which I will come back to shortly.
The President tweeted out this morning that he did indeed share information on terrorism however.
As President I wanted to share with Russia (at an openly scheduled W.H. meeting) which I have the absolute right to do, facts pertaining....— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 16, 2017
...to terrorism and airline flight safety. Humanitarian reasons, plus I want Russia to greatly step up their fight against ISIS & terrorism.— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 16, 2017
But is that the same as sharing highly classified information which identifies an intelligence source which is what the Washington Post story alleged.
National Security Adviser, H.R. McMaster categorically denied it. He said the reports were false and that 'I was in the room, It didn't happen."
So how dangerous is this fake news?
