There are some 86,000 asylum seekers in France as per 2016 numbers, and only 40,000 housing places, so France has started to convert low cost hotels into temporary facilities.
This scheme is being overseen by the Housing Ministry after the so-called 'Calais Jungle' was closed.
The 'Calais Jungle' was shut down last October and became a notoriously violent place as these Asylum Seekers predominantly from the Middle East gathered as they tried to gain entry into Britain.
