Earlier this week, 37-year-old Amund Haarstad, of Fergus Falls, Minnesota broke into Kraft Imports and 5 Star Muffler in Des Moines. It was one of the last mistakes he would ever make.
When the owner, 67-year-old Thomas Kraft, arrived for work, he discovered the burglary and a pick up loaded with his stuff.
He went inside and although police have not yet released too much in the way of detail, we know he shot and killed the guy committing the crime. The criminal - and according to his own family, was also a drug addict.
Now that same family in the form of the dead man's sister, has hit out at Kraft saying he should not have shot her brother and this was clearly not a case for Stand Your Ground (I don't know about her legal credentials), and Kraft should not have taken the law into his own hands.
