The President took to Twitter over the weekend threatening to shut down the Government if Democrats don't give him the votes he needs to get the border wall and other immigration measures.
I would be willing to “shut down” government if the Democrats do not give us the votes for Border Security, which includes the Wall! Must get rid of Lottery, Catch & Release etc. and finally go to system of Immigration based on MERIT! We need great people coming into our Country!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 29, 2018
His comments have certainly made some Republicans nervous. Speaking on CBS’s Face the Nation, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisconsin) said: “I don’t think it will be helpful so let’s try to avoid it.”
Back in February the President did make a similar threat but ultimately signed a spending Bill that runs through September. As Republicans prepare to extend that beyond the Mid-Terms the President has spoken again on the subject.
Back in March when signing that Bill he commented: "I said to Congress, I will never sign another bill like this again."
So what do you think? Good idea?
