She flies proudly outside my home every day, but apparently the financial cost is too high for the City of Decorah to keep flying Old Glory on four specific days and so the Council voted to remove those days from it's flag-flying calendar!
Three of the four days are Veteran connected! Decorah will no longer fly the Stars and Stripes on Water Street on Vietnam Veterans' Day (March 29th), Victory in Europe Day (May 8th) and Victory over Japan Day (September 2nd).
The City says it takes two workers three to four hours each time the flags are raised or lowered and the move is a cost cutting measure.
Really? This is Government! There was nothing else to cut? Give me ten minutes with your budget!
Maybe we should plan a road trip??
