Is there a National Emergency at the Southern Border?
There is no question that Homeland Security cannot cope with the resources they have.
On top of that, the number of family units ICE has been forced to release just since December 21 of last year, has now topped 126,000. This is not the first crisis at the border though.
- June 2, 2014: President Obama declared a wave of unaccompanied children across the U.S.-Mexican border an “urgent humanitarian situation” and directed federal agencies to coordinate a response.
- February 15, 2019: President Trump declared a wave of unaccompanied children across the U.S.-Mexican border a “national security crisis” and declared a national emergency to address the situation.
Ron Vitiello is the Acting Director of Ice (awaiting confirmation) and he's on my show today. The big question is obviously to ask him to confirm or deny a National Emergency at the Southern Border.
Will he confirm?
