The White House said last night that some 525,000 jobs would be created after President Trump issued a Presidential Proclamation suspending entry into the US of some foreign guest workers.
H-1B Visas are for skilled workers and those are now blocked as are H-2B seasonal worker visas which are used by landscapers and other industries. L Visas which are for managers being transferred within a company are also temporarily banned and visas for spouses of H-1B Visa holders are also now suspended.
The Guest worker ban starts tomorrow and runs through the end of 2020.
Those already here are exempt as are those abroad who already have hold visas, but that second group must hold an official travel document allowing entry into the US.
Also exempted are food supply chain workers and people who's entry is deemed to be in the national interest.
A senior Administration official on a call with reporters, said the move was "geared at getting Americans back to work as quickly as possible".
