If they burp... tax the farmer! If they urinate... tax the farmer! Oh and if they fart... REALLY tax the farmer. And it's all designed to save the planet!

This is the plan in New Zealand which not surprisingly has angered farmers.

"New Zealand's farmers are set to be the first in the world to reduce agricultural emissions, positioning our biggest export market for the competitive advantage that brings in a world increasingly discerning about the provenance of their food," the country's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern told reporters while announcing the proposals from a farm in a place called Wairarapa.

And while the Government has yet to announce exactly how this will work - especially for the silent and deadly ones - according to the BBC, the Federated Farmers' national president Andrew Hoggard is not happy.

"He said the plan will "rip the guts out of small-town New Zealand", leading to farms making way for trees. He added that the body was "deeply unimpressed" with the government's interactions with farmers while examining alternative proposals. armers will now be selling their land "so fast you won't even hear the dogs barking on the back of the ute (pickup truck) as they drive off", he added."

What do you think? Will taxing Cow burps save Planet Earth?
