According to NBC, camping is racist! Do you agree?

I don't get camping! I love the outdoors! I love walks in nature! I love finding waterfalls! I love spectacular views!

I do not like bugs, wondering about the bathroom, being uncomfortable when typically I'm just a few miles from a comfy bed in a nice clean hotel!

BUT - I know a lot of Iowans LOVE camping! My neighbor is actually setting off today! I have friends who's dog I take care of when they go camping and I know they just can't wait to get out there.

What I've never ever ever ever thought of however, is that camping is racist!

Yes, you heard that right... racist!

In the story, NBC BLK reporter Char Adams talked about many Black-led outdoor groups working to "provide safe spaces for Black people to enjoy outdoor activities and dispel myths that the outdoors doesn’t belong to us". She said the groups were founded to combat racism from the Jim Crow Era barring African Americans from National Parks and stereotypes that Black people did not enjoy outdoor activities.

The report on NBCNews.com wanted racially segregated "safe spaces" to avoid "harassment" and "trauma" from White people. They complained that some campers fly Trump flags which is triggering.

As you can imagine, the report was mercilessly mocked on line.

What do you think? Is camping racist?
