How late planting has lowered yield

The research is starting to trickle out on historical guidance during this cool, wet spring with delayed planting as a reminder of what has happened during similiar years in the past, and it comes at a time of six consecutive trend line yield or higher crop production. For example, University of Illinois Ag Economists Todd Hubbs and Scott Irwin have some data suggesting if we 10 percent of the crop planted later than normal, it leads to total production 6.1 bushel lower than trend. Something to keep in the back of your mind for the future. Read the full analysis here.
