Families, neighbors and community members dropped by to celebrate the opening the Bardole family’s new hog barn near Rippey, Iowa with tours, a complimentary lunch and conversation with members of the Bardole family to learn more about how they raise livestock, use technology to care for them and safeguard the environment.
“I’m proud to be the sixth generation in the Bardole family to be part of the family farm. Our family has a long history of solid, reputable land stewardship practices in the agricultural community of Rippey and Greene County,” said Schyler Bardole. “This community is a part of our family in many ways. We want to see it continue to flourish and grow, so our children and future generations can continue to carry on our legacy. We understand that for this legacy to continue we must be committed to protecting the environment and communicating openly with our neighbors.”
Experts from the Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers (CSIF) were also available to provide insight into interpreting rules and regulations impacting animal agriculture, enhancing relationships with neighbors and choosing good locations for new barns and feedlots. CSIF assistance is available to farm families at no charge and played a big role in the developing of the Bardole's new facility.
