USDA Sec. Sonny Perdue visits The Big Show

During one of our "Clean Water in Iowa Starts Here" tour stops in Hardin County on the Heath Stooley property:

As you can see, we literally were broadcasting the site of Heath's new 15 acre wetland project, designed to remove the nitrates from water that drains off of some 1900 acres:

Hosted by our friends at the Iowa Corn Growers Association:

Governor Reynolds was along:

The construction has barely wrapped up and the wetland is beginning to fill:

Once it is full:

The project is expected to last 150 years! Iowa Ag Secretary Mike Naig emceeded the event under The Big Show Tent:

Our friends from Frazier Nursery were even there planting trees as a part of the project:

Sec. Perdue also signed a Secretarial Disaster Declaration to help farmers in 19 counties who were devastated by the Derecho, which he toured on the way to Hardin County by air in an Iowa National Guard Blackhawk helicopter.
