Thanks to Kevin Brooks for making us aware of such a special story. Iowa show cattle industry supporters decided to make a difference following the cancellation of the 2020 Iowa State Fair. A group of industry supporters made the decision Iowa’s 2020 show was not going to let this year’s youth participants be negatively impacted by COVID-19 and decisions made by others outside their control.
With the leadership of Wade Rodgers, Brad Smith and Tracy Goretska, Brad Otto, Travis Shanks, Brent Lowry and Kevin Brooks this core group of chose the challenge of raising fund in support this year Iowa State Special Edition. This group solicited donor support from around the State of Iowa and the Midwest. Equally important as the donor support for this cause was those individuals who were active buyers of the 86 lots of goods and services offered thru the ISF Beef Champion Supporters July 22nd online auction. The one evening auction rose over $90,000 for beef youth support.
2020 was the inaugural year of the Iowa State Fair Beef Champion Supporters providing $88,000 in premium awards to the 2020 market beef champions. ISFBCS is an organization comprised of show cattle enthusiasts who are supportive of youth in agriculture. ISFBCS objectives are supporting Iowa youth actively engaged in raising and showing beef cattle, the show cattle industry and supplementing IFAA’s mission through the Sale of Champions.
