The average price received by farmers for corn during September in Iowa was $3.39 per bushel according to the latest USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service – Agricultural Prices report. This was up 31 cents from the August price but 33 cents below September 2019. The September 2020 average price received by farmers for soybeans, at $9.24 per bushel, was up 60 cents from the August price and $1.10 above September 2019.
The September average oat price per bushel was $3.13, up 20 cents from August but 25 cents below September 2019. All hay prices in Iowa averaged $117.00 per ton in September. This was up $3.00 from the August price but $1.00 below the September 2019 price.
The September 2020 alfalfa hay price averaged $129.00, up $8.00 from the previous month and $6.00 above September 2019. The average price received for other hay during September was $81.00 per ton. This was down $7.00 from the August price and $18.00 below the September 2019 price.
The September average price was $18.30 per cwt for milk, down 90 cents from the August price and $2.10 below one year ago. Prices received for milk cows for dairy herd replacement averaged $1,290 per head as of October 1, 2020.
