Record Breaking 40th Governor's Charity Steer Show

Saturday, August 13th, the 40th Annual Governor's Charity Steer Show was hosted on the Iowa State Fairgrounds. This show featured 25 different Iowa "celebrities" who found a youth steer exhibitor around the state who would be willing to participate in this event, which all proceeds are donated towards the Ronald McDonald House of Iowa. The 40th show featured many first year participants, including Gary Slater the Iowa State Fair CEO who received the award of "Best Showman."

The Overall Champion of the 40th Governor's Charity Steer Show was John Lawrence, the Vice President of Iowa State University Extension & Outreach. Lawrence showed Blue, which was exhibited by Brady Werner of Williamsburg. This teams sponsor was the Iowa County Beef Supporters. In order to raise funds to donate, the main portion of financial collection is auctioning off the steers that were exhibited in the show. This years money total was a record breaking number. In the year 2021, the record was shattered with the number reaching $375,000. This year, that number was far surpassed with a ground breaking total of $436,000.
