(Mountain View, CA) -- Google is giving $150,000 in grants to support STEM education in Iowa. Going to the Iowa STEM Council, Google aims to help increase awareness and interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields in the state.

"I am proud of the partnership between Google and the Iowa Governor’s STEM Advisory Council, and Google’s commitment to preparing our students for a better tomorrow," says Governor Kim Reynolds in a press release. "Public-private partnerships are so critical if we expect our future workforce to have the skills needed for high-demand jobs in our state. Through Google’s investment, they realize the value and importance of STEM education in our schools and the access our students will have to hands-on, advanced technology which will ultimately prepare them to be successful and career ready."

In the tech giant's announcement, Google will be hosting a "Coding Carnival" booth at the Iowa State Fair with hands-on learning opportunities for students. The booth will be open for the entire fair, and is located next to the Jacobson Center.

Since 2009, Google has invested more than $5 billion in Iowa, awarding more than $3 million for the state's schools and non-profits.
