Mentoring Month & Phone Scam using your "Yes" answer (Bonnie's blog 1/30/17)

posted by Bonnie -

Mariah Hines of the Iowa Mentoring Partnership and Zach Smith, Director of Man Up Iowa, joined us in the studio this morning just after the 8:30 news.  January is National Mentoring Month.  Mentoring is all about the building of a relationship of a young person and an adult.  This relationship can be career related or just having access to a male or female person that is not available in their life.  Man Up Iowa serves young men ages 7 thru 17.  For more information on mentoring...either to become a mentor or if you would like a mentor, go to www.iowamentoring.org.

As we said on the show today, there is a phone scam going around where the first thing you hear when you pick up the phone is "Can you hear me" and if you answer "yes", they record your response and use it to authorize credit card or bill charges.  If you have had one of these  phone calls, please pay extra attention to your credit card bills.

Tomorrow on Van and Bonnie, need any summer vacation ideas?  The Iowa Tourism Bureau will be on with us with some great ideas for you.

Have a great day...enjoy the warmer weather, it's not going to stick around!
