Remember the days when Netflix used to just send you DVDs in the mail? Those days are long gone, with the company trail blazing ever since. As if being one of those most popular streaming platforms who also produces many shows themselves wasn't enough, they are now going head to head with movie theaters and their big blockbuster productions. Netflix is dropping $90 million dollars to create David Ayer's 'Bright.' Ayer has been responsible for huge silver screen success stories including Suicide Squad. Will Smith stars in the film and has a huge part in the movie's lofty budget. But it's Will Smith, so hey, why not? Especially since they are hoping to turn Bright into a franchise. The public got their first taste of the film where Smith plays a cop in a world where humans live amongst fantasy creatures, during the Oscars.
Reports claim Netflix also paid over $100 million for Martin Scorsese's upcoming flick, The Irishman, with Robert DeNiro, as well as $60 million for War Machine starring Brad Pitt.
