Cancer Survivors tell their stories of climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro!

posted by Bonnie -

Dr. Richard Deming of Above & Beyond Cancer, joined us in the studio this morning just after the 7:30 news. He is just back from taking 39 cancer survivors and caregivers to Africa where they did mission work at the Kenyatta National Hospital and then climbed to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro.  They would love to share their stories with you!  There is a special event on March 28th at the Iowa State Historical Building from 5:30-7:30. For more information and tickets, go to www.aboveandbeyondcancer.org.

Jonathan Brendemeuhl of Des Moines Performing Arts, joined us in the studio just after the 8:30 news. They have announced their 2017-2018 season featuring 2016 Tony Award winners for best musical, best revival of a musical and best play!  Some of those shows include Hamilton (6/27-7/15, 2018), The Color Purple (10/31-11/5, 2017), and The Humans (4/3-8, 2018).  For more information, go to www.desmoinesperformingarts.com.  By the way, Jonathan mentioned that the only way to guarantee that you will get tickets to Hamilton, is to buy season tickets...which are on sale today.

I hope to see you at the Concept by Iowa Hearing Aid Center's free lunch with Van and Bonnie today.  For reservations, call 877-908-9308.

Tomorrow on Van and Bonnie, we'll tell you how you can help feed the hungry in our area and get a Hy-Vee Market Grille Gift Card!

Have a wonderful day!
