Abe Goldstien, Executive Director of the Community Jazz Center in Greater Des Moines, joined us in the studio just after the 8:30 news. The Smithsonian has established April as Jazz Appreciation Month. To kick off the month, the CJC is hosting a one day jazz festival at Java Joes on Sunday, April 2nd, from 10:30AM til 6PM. The festival will feature area jazz musicians from junior high to senior citizen age, playing everything from traditional to big band jazz, hard bop to fusion. This is a fundriaser for the Community Jazz Center, so come and enjoy the great music and if you wish to donate, please do. You can get more information at www.DesMoinesCommunityJazzCenter.org.
Joe Gomez, our political analyst from Washington, D.C., joined us by phone just after the 8AM news. Joe filled us in on all things political and then added that he is an avid bicycle rider. Many days he rides his bike to work rather than driving thru the hectic Washington, D.C. traffic. Van told him about Iowa having the best bicycle trails in the U.S., so perhaps when Joe comes to Iowa for a visit, we'll get him a rental bike and get him out on our trails!
In case you missed it, today's Secret Sound was a washing machine that was off-weight. You can see the video on this webpage!
Tomorrow on Van and Bonnie, it's FRIDAY! We'll have our Friday Morning News Quiz for a great prize!
Try to hang in there...Jeriann promises a little sunshine tomorrow afternoon after 3:00.
