Iowa Barnstormers honor First Responders at game this Saturday! Brig. General visits Van & Bonnie (Bonnie's blog 4/24/17)

Barnstormer Coach Dixie Wooten and Matt Swim, Assistant General Manager/Sales Manager for the Iowa Barnstormers joined us in the studio this morning just after the 7:30 news.  This Saturday night the Iowa Barnstormers will be honoring First Responders with free admission to the game.  First Responders can pick up their free ticket at the Des Moines Police Officers' Credit Union on Court Avenue or call the office at 515-633-2255.  They can also order additional tickets for only $10.00 each.  Proceeds from tickets and auction of special game-worn jerseys will go to the family funds at the Des Moines Police Officers Credit Union.  The Iowa Barnstormers are fired-up under Coach Wooten and are 6-2 for the season!  Come out and watch some great football and help honor our First Responders!

Brig. General Jonathon McColumn joined us in the studio this morning just after the 8:30 news.  He is in charge of the 103rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) which encompasses not only Iowa, but three other midwest states as well.  They are celebrating the 109th Birthday of the Army Reserve.  With all the uncertainty in the world right now, the Army Reserve has to remain trained on all the latest equipment so they can be ready to help whenever and wherever in the world they are needed.  Congratulations to Brig. General McColumn on a recent promotion!  He will be leaving us here in Iowa and is headed to South wishes to him!

Tomorrow on Van and Bonnie, we will be coming to you live from the Dallas County Jail.  Feel free to stop by and say "hello"!  Plus, even though we won't be in the studio, you'll still have two chances to win $1,000! Listen for the keywords just after the 7 and 8AM newscasts!

Have a great day!
