Mark Dempsey, a volunteer with the 2017 Central Iowa Kidney Walk joined us in the studio this morning just after the 8:30 news. The Central Iowa Kidney Walk will take place April 29th at Gray's Lake. 9AM registration, 10:30AM walk. In case of rain, the event will be held at Grandview Gym. One in three American adults will be diagnosed with some sort of kidney disease. Just over 80% of all people waiting for an organ transplant are waiting for kidneys. Funds raised from the walk will go toward prevention and education.
Just after the 7:30 news this morning, we talked with Charles Clayton about the "Shriner Strength" event coming up this Sunday. The event has been moved to the Altoona Campus and will run from 10AM-3PM. There will be 42 contestants who will be lifting all sorts of huge items including the "stone over bar" and a car!
