An untitled, 800-word Harry Potter prequel handwritten by JK Rowling on a postcard has been stolen in a burglary in Birmingham.
The story, written on an A5 card, sold for £25,000 at a charity auction in 2008.
West Midlands police have issued a plea for information in the hope that “the appeal goes far and wide among Harry Potter fans throughout the world”.
JK Rowling reached out to her fans, letting them know the story behind the card and not to purchase it if offered. The card was auctioned to raise funds for English PEN, a group that promotes understanding through literature, and Dyslexia Action.
What's in that prequel you ask? Well supposedly it is set three years before Harry's birth, featuring the wizard’s father, James Potter, and godfather Sirius Black when they were teenagers.
