Smirnoff's snarky new campaign trolls President Trump and the current issues in the United States. Their poster states, "Made in America, but we'd be happy to talk about our ties to Russia under oath."
Smirnoff is was founded in Moscow, but made it's way to the U.S. after the Smirnov family fled during the October Revolution of 1917. It's only fitting the campaign boasts a Moscow mule. Smirnoff is now owned by British spirits giant Diageo.
"The recent interest in American-made products created the perfect opportunity to reinforce that fact and the brand's roots in Russia -- with a wink and nod to current affairs." - spokesperson for Diageo
The campaign has been all over social media with a mixture of responses, but it seems for the most part people can appreciate a clever joke.
That's a good burn there, Smirnoff. pic.twitter.com/6fJ4Wfl7Xe— Kate (@librarian_kate) June 10, 2017
