High speed chase Thursday leads to meth arrest

A Des Moines woman's facing drug charges after a low speed chase turned into a high speed chase early Thursday morning.

The Polk County Sheriff's office says they tried to stop 27 year old Jenny Joann Hass of Des Moines in her vehicle on a traffic violation in the 2700 block of NE 51st Ct.  She didn't stop and police persued her at a low rate of speed. 

But sheriff's deputies say she exceeded the speed limit when she entered I-235 west bound.  Deputies stopped the vehicle on 31st Street just south of the interstate.

Hass had outstanding warrants for violating her probation and criminal trespass.  Deputies added charges of eludin, possession of meth and drug paraphernalia and driving while barred.  

She's currently in the Polk County Jail pending a probation hearing.  Bond on the new charges was set at a total of $6,000.
