Grand Avenue Bridge in Des Moines re-opens

(Des Moines, Iowa)  The Grand Avenue Bridge has re-opneed to traffic, one lane in each direction. Pedestrian traffic is allowed on the south side, as work on the bridge will continues through the winter.

Bike lanes across the bridge, the north bridge sidewalk, and the Principal Riverwalk Trails have yet to open.

Public Parking will not be available on the bridge during continued construction.

Full completion is expected next summer.

The new bridge is a concrete beam bridge, which features an open bridge railing concept and will feature painted panels, creating a ‘scalloped’ effect that will sweep across each bridge span.   The bridge also features new LED lighting, on the pedestrian railing.
