Iowa Capitol gets new night time look

(Des Moines, Iowa)   The Iowa State Capitol Building has a new night time look.  This week Oskaloosa, Iowa-based Musco Lighting completed a project installing new, energy efficient LED exterior lights.

Musco's Jim Berns tells WHO Radio News the old high-pressure sodium lights made the Capitol building look orange at night.    He says the LED lights make the building appear more like it does during day time hours.

Berns says crews installed 60-new fixtures on the ground, and 40 around the roof and in other locations along the roof line.

He says  lighting change will save the Capitol Building two-thirds in energy costs.
