Spring Break will be busy at Des Moines Airport

Des Moines Airport

DES MOINES, Iowa - If you're flying out this weekend, get to the airport early.

"You're going to hit some lines both at the ticket counter as well as at security screening."  Des Moines International Airport Manager Kevin Foley tells WHO Radio News.

"We've seen wait times fairly regularly of 30 minutes or even a little more."  Foley says.

He says Spring Break traffic will start picking up today, and airlines have added some extra flights to handle the load.

Foley says that means travelers need to get to the airport at least 90-minutes before their flight, regardless of the time of day.  Two hours is recommended.

New security being put in place by the Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) allow Pre-Check passengers to move through security much more quickly, with an average wait of only five minutes.
