Des Moines teen charged with 1st degree murder

WARREN COUNTY, Iowa  —  A Des Moines 18-year-old man is charged with murder after a woman's body was found in a house on Warren Drive.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office was called to a house in the 8600 block of Warrent Drive on April 2, where they found the body of 25-year-old Mercedes Wathen of Cambridge.

A warrant was issued for 18-year-old Jacquarious J’Ray Scoggins of Des Moines, who was considered a person of interest in the case, as that time. Scoggins now is charged with first degree murder and is in the Warren County Jail.

The investigation continues and anyone with information is asked to contact the Warren County Sheriff’s Department at (515) 961-1122.
