Des Moines hospitals release top 2018 baby names

DES MOINES, Iowa- Unity Point-Des Moines and Mercy Medical Center  in Des Moines are releasing their annual lists of most popular baby names.  

Unity Point reports the most often-used boys names this year are:  Jack or Jackson (was used 48-times this year), followed by Will or William, Oliver, Henry, Ben or Benjamin, and Owen.

Most popular names for girls this year:    Lily (was used 32 times), followed by Evelyn, Charlotte, Adaline, Olivia, and Nora.To date, 4,657 babies have been born at Unity Point Health hospitals in the Des Moines area.

Mercy reports 3,889 babies born so far this year.  Most popular names for girls:   Harper, Isabella, and Evelyn/Olivia (tie).   Most popular boys names for babies born at Mercy include:  Henry and Oliver.   Elijah, Hudson, and Owen tied for third place.
