Squirrel cuts power at West Des Moines schools

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa - A squirrel caused a power outage at five schools in West Des Moines (Wednesday) this morning.

MidAmerican aenergy says the animal got into a substation, but repairs have been made and power has been restored. 

Hillside, Fairmeadows, Rex Mathes Home School, Stilwell and Walnut Creek Campus were all effected, although classess continued through the outage.

At the peak of the outage Wednesday morning just over 1,000 MidAmerican Energy customers were without power.
