Black Hawk Democrats pick Iowa Senate candidate to run for Danielson's seat

Democrats in Black Hawk County this weekend picked current Cedar Falls School Board member and UNI program manager Eric Giddens as their candidate in a special election to fill a vacant Iowa Senate seat.

The seat was vacated by Democratic State Senator Jeff Danielson, who resigned from both his Iowa Senate seat and the Cedar Falls Fire Department immediately. Danielson says part of the reason was the insistance of the City to cross-train police officers to do the work of the fire department.

Plus, Danielson said he's lined up another job, but didn't reveal what it is.

Republicans pick their candidate in a convention Monday. The special election will be March 19th.
