The right lane of Interstate 35 between Exit 94 at 36th Street and Exit 92 at 1st Street in Ankeny is still shutdown after part of the southbound interstate had to be closed to fix huge potholes Sunday
Road crews performing emergency repairs shut down interstate 35 southbound right before Ankeny Sunday.
Drivers were being detoured from the Elkhart exit down US Highway 69 to Enterprise Road in Ankeny and back onto the interstate.
Workers were seen looking at large gaps in the southside I35 where Four Mile Creek passes under the interstate near Ankeny around 4pm.
The Iowa Department of Transportation says repairs started Sunday and a check after 4pm showed workers still trying to fill in the large potholes on the west lane of the interstate. Around 630pm the road was re-opened but travel restricted to the left lane.
