Officials in Iowa cities gird for river crests

Flood problems are still on the minds of state and local officials. as many of the rivers begin their crests for now.

Fleur Drive in Des Moines is still shut down in Des Moines from Central Campus all the way to George Flagg Parkway, which is also closed due to flooding.

U-S Highway 169 is closed north of Adel because of flooding. Traffic is being re-routed at U-S 6, county road P-58 and Iowa Highway 44 north of Adel and south of Iowa 44.

Further east, Iowa Highway 21's closed at Belle Plaine. Traffic north and south on the road's being diverted at U-S 6 and U-S 30.

In western Iowa, Several roads, including Interstate 29 from Hamburg to Council Bluffs are closed as well. In the far northwest there are several highways shut down near the South Dakota border.

The city of Cedar Rapids says they're putting Hesco barriers up in the low-lying areas of the west side of the river. The Cedar River is expected to crest overnight Monday into Tuesday. In addition, the city closed off their storm sewer system to prevent backups and will station more pumps in the Time Check Neighborhood and the Czech Village and Kingston Village districts.

Several roads in Downtown Davenport and Rock Island are closed as the Mississippi is currently two feet above flood stage in Rock Island.

Several roads, including Interstate 29 from Hamburg to Council Bluffs are closed as well.
